Tunisia-Death toll in Kerkennah-shipwreck disaster hits 61

The death toll from Kerkennah-shipwreck disaster that sank off week has risen to 61after four more bodies were retrieved, Regional Director of civil protection in Sfax Mourad Mechri said in a statement to the TAP.

The victims include three adults and a baby, remains were transported to the forensic medicine service and then to the morgue of the Habib Bourguiba University Hospital in Sfax, after verification of their identities.

The search is continuing by the coastguards in Sfax in collaboration with civil protection units to recover other victims.
