National Defence Minister Imed Hazgui paid on Thursday night a visit to La Goulette Naval Base where he took cognisance of the operationality of the units, its structural organisation and the servicemen’s working conditions.
The minister was briefed on the occasion about the mission of the Coast Guard’s national service and the directorate of coastal control.
The minister pointed out the importance of improving the servicemen’s conditions and to grant them the necessary assistance, calling for debouling efforts to protect coasts and to combat irregular migration, smuggling and organised crime.
