Tunisia-Director and screenwriter Moufida Tlatli passes away

The film and cultural scene are in grieving the passing of talented director and screenwriter Moufida Tlatli at the age of 74.

In 1968,Tlatli obtained a degree in Editing from the Institut des Hautes Etudes Cinématographiques de Paris (IDHEC).

For years, she operated in French television, then boarded on a career as an editor, cooperating with prominent directors including Selma Baccar, Abdellatif Ben Ammar, Merzak Allouache, Michel Khaleifi and Nejia Ben Mabrouk.

After editing, Moufida dedicated herself to writing and directing films such as “Les silences du palais”, which was a tremendous success in Tunisia and throughout the world and won several awards such as the Tanit d’Or at the Carthage-JCC Cinematographic Days (1994) and the special mention of the Camera d’Or jury at the Cannes Film Festival (1994).
