Tunisia – Dismantling of human trafficking network from neighboring country

The General Directorate of the National Guard, in a recent press release, revealed as part of the battle against the phenomenon of irregular migration, a patrol from the National Guard units in the Sfax district, backed by intelligence units from the Department of Information and Research, successfully dismantled a network implicated in the illegal trafficking of individuals. This network specialized in smuggling people from a neighbouring country into the Sfax region and then enabling their participation in illegal migration operations via intermediaries. In a significant operation, the authorities apprehended 13 foreigners who were in hiding at a residence in the area.

The public prosecutor authorized the required legal measures to be taken against them.
