Tunisia – Dismissal of SONEDE CEO

Today, Tuesday July 2, 2024, the President of Republic, Kaïs Saïed, decided to dismiss Ahmed Soula from his functions as president and CEO of the National Water Exploitation and Distribution Company ( Soneda).

This decision comes against a backdrop of increasing concerns regarding water management in Tunisia. Sonede, which is responsible for the distribution of drinking water across the country, has encountered recent criticism over the quality and regularity of its service.

The precise reasons for this decision were not described in the official statement, but it is clear that the government is seeking to make substantial changes within Sonede to better meet the needs of citizens.

President Kais Saïed reiterated his commitment to improving public services and guaranteeing that public enterprises effectively serve the Tunisian population.

The appointment of a new CEO for Sonede is anticipated soon, with the hope that this new leadership will provide solutions to current and future problems.
