Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Al Amal party leader Ahmed Nejib Chebbi affirmed the President of the Republic Kais Saied has dominated the executive and legislative powers, adding that he has grown in recent weeks to get his hands on the judiciary. An unseemly thing, according to him, in a state of law.
Remarking on his address delivered yesterday on the sidelines of his visit to the Ministry of the Interior, Ahmed Nejib Chebbi revealed that the Head of State declared the dissolution of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSM) because the judges attached themselves to their independence and declined to obey his dictates.
According to him, Tunisia is confronting an unprecedented financial crisis which will certainly have social repercussions such as the delay in the payment of wages, the growth in the rate of poverty, the increase in prices and the shortage of basic materials. He added that Saied is aiming to resolve all these issues through the issuance of a decree-law.
“The economic situation and international opinion are not in the favour of Saied who is destroying the state,” he said, voicing his dissatisfaction with the silence of the parties. “I call on all parties to safeguard the independence of the judiciary,” adds Chebbi.
