Tunisia-Djerba: Navy army thwarts an irregular migration operation , 17 arrested

Units of the navy army succeeded in thwarting an irregular migration operation 4 miles east Djerba, the national defence ministry announced in a statement.

The ministry pointed out that they arrested 17 people (aged 18/30)  including 16 Tunisians and one person from Eritrea.

The aforementioned people sailed from Djerba in order to secretly cross the maritime borders towards the Italian coasts, they were taken to the port of Zarzis and handed over to the National Guard units to complete the legal procedures against them.
