Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, financial analyst Bassem Neifer revealed that the reduction in the sovereign note of Tunisia with negative prospects by the rating agency Moody’s was not as surprising.
According to Neifer, Moody’s said that it plans to put Tunisia under examination for degradation.
Our speaker recollected that the study of the Tunisia file by the IMF administration committee was delayed, which caused a vagueness surrounding the 2023 finance law.
“The weakness of the Tunisian economy, poor governance and the decline in the growth rate were at the root of this deterioration. As a result, the other rating agencies will support their reports on Moody, adding that this will have a bad influence on import operations made by the state or private companies, “he said.
The expert also disclosed that the degradation of the sovereign note of Tunisia could disrupt the acquisition of foreign funding.
Tunisia needs to conclude an agreement with the IMF and execute the painful reforms, added Bassem Neifer.
