The People’s Movement declared yesterday that it is closely observing the political situation in the nation and the internal and external responses to the measures taken on July 25, 2021. It stressed that the activation of Article 80 of the Constitution and the measures adopted by the President of the Republic Kais Saied came to rectify the revolution of December 17 and to achieve the demands of the Tunisian people for dignity, the fight against corruption and dictatorship as well as equity between regions and social categories.
The party added that Presidential Decree No.117, dated September 22, 2021, is a significant step on the road to the reform process announced on July 25. Echaab revealed that the policies adopted since 2011 have added to the establishment of corruption on the political and financial levels and worsened the political crisis denouncing, in the same context, the interference of foreign parties in the local affairs of the country.
National parties supporting the July 25 measures need to participate in setting priorities for the following stage, including the amendment of the Constitution, the electoral law and the decree-law on the organization of parties and associations, according to Echaab.
The Echaab Movement likewise explained that the national forces are called upon to play their political role in order to ensure the success of the reform process.
