Tunisia-Echaab invites parties to grant confidence to Mechichi government

Echaab movement has just started an initiative inviting political actors to agree to grant confidence to the government according to well-defined criteria.

The initiative launched on Wednesday evening by Echaab proposes to grant a maximum period of one and a half years to the government during which it must reach a consensus between the parliamentary groups to install the Constitutional Court and amend the electoral system.

Echaab proposes in this sense that prime minister-designate Hichem Mechichi commits to presenting a clear vision that sets out the measures to be taken to stop the economic, financial and social haemorrhage in the country, the TAP reported.

The movement calls on all parties to a political and social truce until the political parties decide, at the end of the set period, to opt for one of the following choices. Maintain Mechichi government until the end of the parliamentary mandate and organize legislative and presidential elections within the constitutional deadline set for the fall of 2024 or constitute a parliamentary majority which is responsible for forming a political government or to go directly towards early legislative  elections   ”.
