Tunisia-Eid al-Fitr to fall on May 24, says National Institute of Meteorology

The first day of Eid al-Fitr of the Hijri year 1441 will scientifically correspond with Sunday, May 24, 2020, declared the National Institute of Meteorology (INM). However, the institute added that the grant Mufti in the sole one authorised to announce the beginning day of the Eid.

“It is difficult to sight the crescent of the new month of Shawwāl of the Hijri year 1441 after the sunset on Friday, Ramadan 29,” the institute stated.

The INM announced the crescent signalling the advent of the month of Shawwāl can be sighted on Saturday, May 23, 2020, after sunset, from 6.39 PM (local time), nationwide in and Arab and Islamic capitals.
