Tunisia: El Fouladh unions call for fight against monopoly

The unions of the Société Tunisienne de Siderurgie El Fouladh called for securing the supply of iron to the market, in particular following the decline in the costs of the material on an international scale. They further called for the adoption of certain amelioration in society to enhance its productive capacity and fight monopolies in order to preserve the purchasing power of citizens.

The unions have therefore expressed their dissatisfaction with the smear campaigns and demonization targeting the company, stipulating, at the same time, that El Fouladh has proceeded to distribute iron unlike manufacturers working in the private sector.

They also said that during a radio intervention, the president of the National Federation of Building and Public Works Contractors (FNEBTP) Jamel Ksibi disseminated incorrect information and tried to demonize the public sector and the El Fouladh company. According to the same source, Jamel Ksibi defended private sector manufacturers blaming the iron crisis on the company in question.
