Abdelmajid Ghabri, a teacher at El Mazouna High School in Sidi Bouzid Governorate, confirmed today, Monday, April 14, 2025, that the collapse of part of the high school’s wall caused the death of three students (third-year technical sciences students) and several injuries, two of whom are in severe condition and have been transferred to the Sidi Bouzid Regional Hospital, he said.
He added during his interview on a private radio station that the wall’s collapse was not due to the wind (40 km/h), stressing that the wall was built in the 1980s with invalid specifications.
The teacher underscored that since 2022, the high school administration has written to the Sidi Bouzid Regional Directorate of Education regarding the wall’s condition, without any interaction or feedback, he said.
He also pointed out that the high school dormitory (now closed) and two classrooms (closed) are in danger of collapsing, highlighting once again the lack of any interaction from regional authorities, despite repeated correspondence, he said.
He called for psychological support for the injured, the families of the deceased, and the students.
