Members of the National Council of Regions and Districts elected, Friday evening, two vice-presidents of the council, namely Youssef Bargaoui and Zakia Maaroufi.
A member of the vote counting committee stated during the opening session of the Council, which started this morning at the Council headquarters in the suburb of Bardo, that the two representatives were elected after the counting of votes in the second electoral round, and that Bargaoui obtained the votes of 60 representatives, while Maaroufi received 52 votes. 77 valid ballots were counted, with no blank or cancelled ballots registered.
Bargaoui competed in the second round with representative Samir Hasnaoui (men), while Maaroufi competed with Council representative Omina Harbaoui (women).
As a reminder, Imed Derbali was formerly elected president of the National Council of Regions and Districts following what is stipulated in chapter seven of Ordinance No. 196 relating to “the invitation of members of the National Council of Regions and districts to attend its opening plenary session,” which was published in the Official Gazette on April 16 this month.
