Tunisia: Energy deficit widens 68% late in February 2023

The energy trade balance deficit increased from 1,059 MD late in February 2022 to 1,783 MD at the end of February 2023, thus recording an increase of 68% (taking into account the exported Algerian gas royalty), according to the monthly report on the Energy Situation in Tunisia for February 2023, published by the National Observatory of Energy and Mines (ONME).

According to same the report, the value of exports of energy products dropped 46% compared with the end of February 2022, to stand at 438 million dinars. Exports of crude oil declined 48% in quantity (165 kilotonnes) and 51% in value (295 million dinars) compared to the same period last year.
