Tunisia-Ennahdha calls for the release of January 14 protesters

Ennahdha demanded the liberation of all those apprehended on the sidelines of the current January 14 demonstration, a protest which marks the celebration of the day of the Revolution, according to a press release published on Tuesday after the meeting of its executive office.

Ennahdha again condemned “the forceful aggression of several arrested, in particular, the brother of the martyr of the revolution, Ahmed Boukadous”, calling on human rights organizations and the National Authority for the Prevention of Torture to support the victims of police repression.

On another level, the movement welcomed the liberation of MPs Seifeddine Makhlouf and Nidhal Saudi, calling for the release of the rest of the demonstrators arrested and the close of files of public figures and activists, prosecuted for their opinion. Ennahdha, on the other hand, denounced “the silence of the administration in the face of the decline of the living conditions of the citizens and the high prices, criticizing the absence of a clear vision for the revival of the national economy”.

In this regard, the movement invited all political actors to put forward suggestions for reform in the political, economic and social fields in a participatory framework, far from any “unilateral” decision. The movement has slammed “smear” and “demonization” campaigns that target its leaders and supporters, exposing lies and rumours to deceive public opinion.
