Tunisia-Ennahdha calls for the return of parliament and the organization of a dialogue

Ennahdha Shura council meeting on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, acknowledged the errors made by the party and emphasised the necessity to conduct a thorough self-criticism of its policies during the last period and to proceed with the required amendments and revisions of its programs and frameworks to the horizon of its 11th congress programmed for the end of this year, to review its choices and its positioning so that they are in phase with the messages sent by public opinion and with the needs of the country.

 

 

According to the statement published today on the official party page, the different stakeholders additionally investigated the causes and consequences of this decision. At the termination of the meeting, the Shoura Council announced it understands the popular rage of Tunisians, particularly young people, given the socio-economic crisis in the country for 10 years.

The party, in the same vein, blamed all political actors for this situation, calling on them to excuse in order to correct these problems. It further called for speeding up the establishment of the new government and enabling Parliament to give its confidence to the new members of the executive power in order to strengthen the efforts made in the battle against the Coronavirus pandemic and prepare the draft budget for the year 2022.

The Shoura Council also called for returning, as soon as possible, to the natural situation and elevating the decision on the suspension of the parliament activities, expressing its willingness to respond favourably to the resumption of the democratic process.

According to the same statement, the party expressed profound concern over the detention of bloggers and MPs as well as the trial of civilians in military courts. “The party is concerned concerning the exploitation of these exceptional measures to settle political scores,” the same statement read.

The Ennahdha Movement calls for launching a national dialogue on socio-economic reformations expressing its commitment to self-criticize its policies and review its programs and decisions. “Ennahdha is likewise committed to fighting corruption and meeting with all parties including Head of State Kais Saied,” according to the same source.
