Tunisia-Ethiopi Renaissance Dam: Tunisia “astonished” at Ethiopia’s statement

The Tunisian foreign ministry issued a statement expressing its astonishment at the negative reaction of the Ethiopian foreign ministry, in connection to the resolution initiative submitted by Tunisia, concerning the Renaissance Dam.

“The Presidential statement about the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam was approved on Wednesday by the UN Security Council,” a Foreign Ministry press release reads.

Tunisia confirms that it has, from the beginning, consulted with all stakeholders and UNSC members at various levels and that it has not bet the party of any of them.

The aim was to bridge points of view and reach a balanced deal that takes into account the stakeholders’ concerns and interests, guarantees their right to development and at the same time keeps the region free from tension.
