Following the attacks registered against journalists by the police in order to disperse the PDL sit-inners in front of the headquarters of the International Union of Muslim scholars, the HAICA cautioned against the repeated targeting of journalists as well as restrictive practices threatening press freedom.
The HAICA called on the government to assume its responsibilities and take the required measures to put a finish to these practices. It likewise called on the different parties to quit involving journalists in political conflicts that do not concern them and to secure their rights and freedoms, including freedom of expression and press.
