The Directorate of Information and Communication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad revealed, in a press release today, Tuesday, March 26, that the competent authorities in Italy will start today the process of exhuming the remains of 6 Tunisian migrants, which will later be brought back to Tunisia in two batches during the current week (three bodies on each trip).
It clarified that a representative of the Italian funeral company responsible for exhuming the bodies was received and provided with the needed documents and authorizations.
The Directorate explained the various interventions and procedures undertaken by the Ministry since receiving information regarding the sinking of an irregular migration boat off the Italian city of Trapani, on October 26, 2023, and the recovery of six bodies of people likely to possess Tunisian nationality.
