Tunisia-EXLUSIVE: PM Mechichi’s latest decisions after meeting his political supporters

Prime minister Hichem Mechichi met the representatives of the parties and parliamentary blocs that constitute his political support within the House of People representatives. A rather long meeting that continued no less than three hours, during which the participants addressed from all aspects, the problem of the ministerial reshuffle.

According to Tunisia Numerique sources, ¨PM Mechichi heard all participants and opinions. On one hand, Tahya Tounes and the national bloc representatives who usually represent the voice of reason called Mechichi for moderation and prudence, insinuating that he keep preserving, till the end, the possibilities of reconnecting with the President of the Republic, and not to destroy the bridges of dialogue. On the other hand, Ennahdha and 9alb Tounes moved their way to drive him to the extreme, and to break with Carthage, implying that he move on in strength.

Mechichi agreed during this meeting that there is no way to finish his reshuffle, in its complete version. He stated he was ready to drop the four names that bothered the President of the Republic, but there was no way he would think of resigning. Except that he does not know them, and that he cannot act on such a severe matter, based on presumptions. And he’s afraid to fire four of his nominees, simply to find later that they are not the proper names.

Mechichi has notified his supporters that it is for this reason that he has addressed letters to the presidency requesting for the names of disturbing candidates.

Mechichi added that he will do everything to come to an accord with Saïed to maintain a good working environment and understanding. But, if ever he does not succeed, he has stated that he will be subdued to switching to his emergency plan, and which will consist of the establishment of a small government, with the unique sixteen ministers who will remain, after the removal of the eleven which he will get rid of. But, there, there will unavoidably be a break with Carthage. Which would eventually be harmful to Tunisia in the first place.
