Tunisia: Fall in national crude oil production

According to the economic report covering the first seven months of the current year, the national production of crude oil stood at 919 thousand metric tons at the end of July 2023, indicating a decrease of 6% compared to the same period in 2022.

This decline had a significant impact on several major fields. Halk el Manzel, which began production in 2021, experienced a decrease of 44%, while El Borma saw a reduction of 16%. Ashtart decreased by 13%, M.L.D by 32%, Ouedzar by 32%, Cherouq by 23%, and Fanig/Bag/Tarfa by 20%.

Conversely, some fields showed an improvement in production. Nawara increased by 41%, Gherib by 26%, Cercina by 41%, Baraka by 41%, and El Hajeb/Guebiba by 8%.

It is noteworthy that the daily average of oil production decreased from 35.7 thousand barrels per day at the end of July 2022 to 33.8 thousand barrels per day at the end of July 2023.
