The Minister of Health, Faouzi Mehdi confirmed that Tunisia will acquire as of mid-February the first doses of the Covid 19 vaccine.
“We are one of the 18 nations that have been chosen to join the Covax plan, which has allowed us to enhance the quantities of vaccine available to us. In mid-February, we will receive 94,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and by mid-February one million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, “said Mr Mehdi during an interview on Al Watania 1 news.
He stated Tunisia is likewise integrating other programs and negotiating directly with laboratories to obtain vaccines. “In March we will have constant supplies of about two million doses of Pfizer vaccine and this quantity can rise,” added Faouzi Mehdi.
The minister announced that Tunisia has received an agreement in principle from England to manufacture here with the Ministry of National Defense, the Astrazeneca vaccine.
