Tunisia-Fathi Sellauti: 109,000 students left school in 2022 (video)

Speaking during a press conference held this Monday, September 12, 2022 , Minister of Education Fathi Sellauti confirmed that it is essential to offer appropriate conditions to students, in particular those who resided in rural areas of the Republic.

On the other hand, the minister voiced that around 100 students leave school daily, registering 109,000 cases of school abandonment in 2022, against 69,000 last year.

He attributed this phenomenon, which he considered dangerous to numerous reasons, the most important of which is the difficulty of travelling to school and the low-grade quality of school services, including school catering.

He said that his department follows all the violations regarding the embezzlement of the funds allocated to support the students and renovation of schools, adding that necessary measures are taken whenever breaches are detected in this regard.

As for the disruption in terms of restoration work on numerous schools, he confirmed that this case does not fall under the ministry and that the problem is mostly due to entrepreneurs and their delay in the accomplishment of their jobs.
