Tunisia-Fear due to gas emissions of GCT

considerable number of local citizens living beside Essalam Beach region near the industrial zone of Gabes were found themselves in dread panic as they had trouble breathing due to gas emissions from the Tunisian Chemical Group.

The residents of the area requested for a firm demonstration against the GCT as it promptly became a true nightmare that endangered their lives and it must shut down its door.

Residents sternly criticised the government, denouncing it of abandoning Gabes. “All schemes promised by the government remained overlooked,” they said, adding that “danger is threatening their lives every single moment”, reported the TAP agency.

A number of local observers emphasised that the environmental circumstances are “posing a real threat to their lives as the units of the Tunisian Chemical Group have become obsolete,” adding that “this could result in a major disaster at any time.”
