Tunisia-Fetiti says if he was in Rached Ghanouchi’s place, he will step down

Speaking to Mosaique FM, Second deputy Speaker of The House of People’s Representatives “HPR” Tarak Ftiti estimated that it is difficult to evaluate the current parliamentary session. Nevertheless, he considered the situation in Parliament to be deteriorating, asserting that many parties are responsible for this including the house speaker.

“The house speaker should have taken the decision to ban any MPs who breaks the rules of procedure from attending plenaries, committees or meetings of the parliamentary bureau, since the commencement of the parliamentary session”, he said.
He also stressed that the deputies are outlawed neither within the Parliament nor outside this institution.
In this context, he condemned what occurred at Tunis-Carthage airport and Khaireddine Pasha Avenue, in front of the Union of Muslim scholars. He likewise criticized prime minister Hichem Mechichi for not applying the law in the aforementioned cases.
“Parliamentary immunity is not permanent. It does not grant MPs the right to do everything without being punished, he added.

On another note, Fetiti affirmed if he was in Rached Ghanouchi’s place he would have resigned, calling on Enahdha’s supporters to invite him to stepdown.
Likewise, he called on the President of the Republic to strengthen the team of his advisers.
