Tunisia-First lady Ichraf Chebil gives first speech

President of the Republic’s wife and first lady Ichraf Chebil, gave her first speech Saturday, August 13, 2022, on the occasion of the ceremony given to celebrate woman’s day which coincides with the sixty-sixth anniversary of the Promulgation of the personal status code.

During her speech, she emphasised that the rights of Tunisian women are crushed and, at best, insufficient, adding that the accomplishments must be preserved and reinforced to fight against all forms of discrimination, especially in rural areas and certain high-density districts of inhabitants.

She further expressed that Tunisia is the first Arab country to have a woman prime minister, a pride that history will preserve.
