Speaking today to Tunisie Numérique, former diplomat Ahmed Ounaies indicated that the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in regard to the latest decision by OPEC + to decrease oil production, is in fact a message of solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
Ounaies clarified that several countries believed that this measure taken by Saudi Arabia was unrealistic, especially at the core of the current circumstance, emphasising that Tunisia stands alongside the country in question.
“Tunisia’s statement is extremely valuable, especially since our interest requires that oil prices not be high, which is the opposite of what was declared by Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, the latest press release from the Foreign Ministry has just denied all the rumours about our country’s alignment with the United States with a view to maintaining its economic interests, to the detriment of its historical relations with the friendly countries” said Ounaies, revealing that this is the first press release of its kind from Tunisia.
