Forest areas marked by a high density of trees and vulnerability to fires need special management. Thus, camping has been prohibited in many of these areas, according to Muhammad Nofal bin Haha, Director General of Forests.
In a statement to Tunisie Numérique today, Friday, June 21, 2024, Ben Haha added that spaces meant solely for camping, without special centres that contribute to the local economic cycle, were likewise considered, with the top priority being forest protection.
He also noted that there are forests where camping is allowed, and these areas are specially prepared to welcome visitors and tourists. Furthermore, he examined the random brush spread in Tunisian forests, which greatly contributes to the spread of fires.
The same source stressed that all involved parties are operating to protect forests and make them beneficial to the residents.
