Tunisia-FTDES: Over 800 undocumented Tunisian migrants confined in Spain in inhuman circumstances for more than 5 months

Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES) officer in charge of the migration portfolio Romdhane Ben Amor affirmed that over 800 800 undocumented Tunisian migrants including women and children have been confined for more than five months in inhumane and disgracing circumstances at the Melila provisional residence for immigrants in Spain.

In a declaration to the TAP agency,he said that the detained Tunisians migrated to Spain by land from Morocco are housed in cluttered and filthy plastic tents, displayed to freezing conditions and shortage of food.

Ben Amor further pointed out that these migrants had petitioned for asylum in Spain but have not obtained any answer to their inquiries. They had also staged a sit-in but neither the Spanish nor Tunisian authorities have responded, he specified.

The migrants reached for the FTDES to begin an anguished call to international public opinion to get them out of this deplorable situation.
