Gabes has not recorded any local case of infection with COVID-19 for 37 consecutive days, local health director Riadh Chaouch said in a statement.
The result was recorded after five sample analysis in Habib Bourguiba university hospital in Sfax tested negative.
The governorate has reported three imported cases of COVID-19 among people evacuated from Saudi Arabia and placed in mandatory isolation centres.
