Tunisia-Gabes: Opening of judicial investigation into causes of Jara market fire

The general prosecutor’s office has initiated an investigation into the massive fire which broke out on Thursday, January 4, 2024, in the middle of the Jara Henna Souk, in Gabes, the first delegate responsible for managing the affairs of the governorate of Gabes Lotfi Mrabet, to the Tunisie Numérique correspondent in the region.

The flames ravaged many stalls inside the market and destroyed fast-burning products, such as palm leaves, wool, henna and others.

We remember that the Henna Souk of Jara caught fire on May 2, 2022, when 25 stalls were set on fire. Recently, several market traders took the initiative to remodel their shops and resume their activities.
