The General Media Federation under the Tunisian General Union of Labor (UGTT), called on journalists to rally on Tuesday in front of the annexe building of the House of People’s Representatives “HPR” to oppose against the bill intending the amendment of Decree-Law No. 2011-116 of 2 November 2011, relating to the freedom of audiovisual communication.
The Federation also called on journalists to prepare to join in all forms of struggle if this project is adopted, after sending an official correspondence by the government to the parliament, to withdraw six organic and ordinary bills, including that relating to the freedom of audiovisual communication.
It also urged “all MPs who believe in media freedom to reject the amendment to Legislative Decree No. 2011-116, which will wreak havoc in the sector”
