Tunisia- Ghazi Chaouachi files a complaint against Rached Khiari

Secretary-General of the Democratic Current, Ghazi Chaouachi formally announced his intention to file a complaint against MP Rached Khiari, for slander and incitement to murder,  Acharaa Al Magharibi reported.

According to Chaouachi, Khiari published two days ago on his Assada site and on different social media pages accusations that he had attacked the provisions of religion and the Holy Quran, in relationship with an old statement on the equality in the inheritance that would have been taken out of context.

Concerning the issue of parliamentary immunity enjoyed by Rached Khiari as a member of the parliament, Chaouachi emphasised that he is fully aware that Khiari will not waive this privilege.

However, he concluded that the majority of MPs will vote for the lifting of immunity and even if not, he will still be allowed to lodge a complaint at the conclusion of the term.
