Tunisia: Ghazi Chaouachi referred to Criminal Chamber

Lawyer and former leader of the Democratic Current, Ghazi Chaouachi, has become the subject of a complaint lodged against him by the Minister of Justice, citing decree-law no. 2022-54 as grounds for the action.

It is by this decree 54 that the Indictment Chamber of the Court of Appeal of Tunis decided to direct Ghazi Chaouachi to the Criminal Chamber of the Court of First Instance of Tunis to be tried there, reports Mosaique FM, this Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Ghazi Chaouachi was apprehended on February 24, 2023 for “conspiracy against the internal and external security of the State”. The investigating judge at the anti-terrorism unit issued an arrest warrant against him on February 25.
