Tunisia – Governorate of Tunis: Specific economic control program during Ramadan

The regional committee, which oversees price monitoring, supply regularity, anti-smuggling efforts, monopoly control, parallel trade, unsystematic displays, and food security, has started comprehensive campaigns implicating all relevant entities. These campaigns seek to counteract speculation and monopolistic practices throughout the entire month of Ramadan. This initiative was revealed during a session in the Tunis governorate, led by the primary delegate responsible for managing governorate affairs.

The session’s participants assured that these joint economic surveillance efforts would spread to all weekly and daily markets. They assessed the outcomes of detected violations and the confiscation of numerous listed food items. Further, an economic surveillance plan, devised collaboratively by all involved parties and the Tunis governorate’s competent authorities, was presented. This plan concentrates on supervising supply chains, distribution mechanisms, and pricing strategies.

The Regional Committee members, along with the Regional Director of Commerce, the Regional Director of Social Affairs, and the Customs Guard representative, underscored the significance of tackling high prices and ensuring the availability of essential products to consumers during the session.

It’s noteworthy that the sale of consumer goods directly from producers to consumers at the Avenue de la République venue will begin with the onset of Ramadan.
