Tunisia-HAICA to start website to combat fake news

The Independent High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HAICA) said it will launch a website to fight against spreading fake news on the health situation in the country, starting next week.

HAICA president Nouri Lajmi told TAP journalists can find out about the content of the website on www.tunisiachecknews.com which had already been used during the 2019 legislative and presidential elections.

He noted that 13 journalists from several media outlets will be trained on techniques enabling them to remotely check the information and authenticity of the photos and videos posted on the web and social media on the health situation in the country.

This initiative will give more credibility to media content, especially after the dissemination of false news by some journalists.
