Tunisia-Hamdi Hashad: “Possibility of setting temperature records locally and globally” [Video]

In a statement to Tunisie Numérique today, Wednesday, June 19, 2024, environmental engineer and climate affairs expert Hamdi Hashad stated that the maximum temperatures are expected to be registered in July, noting the possibility of local and global temperature records.

Hashad added that these current climate conditions are the result of the accumulation of many factors, such as the phenomenon of global warming, and the effect of solar radiation, which contributes to the Earth absorbing additional amounts of heat. He emphasised that all of these elements confirm that July will witness a greater increase in temperatures.

Hashad also noted that on June 14, the average global temperature was recorded at 16.81°C, the highest ever for June. He added that preliminary data and digital simulation models suggest signs of an extremely hot summer ahead.
