The Secretary General of the Popular Movement, Zouhair Hamdi, believed that “there is an exaggeration in the description of the current situation”, adding that “during the last elections the climate was much worse than the current climate.
He added: “What is worse: the past years, which were marked by the denial of justice and impunity, or the July 25 station, which went far in our demands…”
Hamdi confirmed that “the Popular Movement has renewed its confidence in Kais Saied”, considering that “the elections are taking place in an exceptional situation and it is not possible to side with the troublemakers and those related to external forces… there are observations we do not hesitate to make”, he said.
He called on all candidates in the presidential election to “respect the law on an equal footing and not to exploit the capacities of the State”.
He remarked on Decree No. 54: “Even if we have to regulate the virtual media scene, we are against restricting the freedom of speech of journalists, media professionals and intellectuals, and against any attack on freedom of opinion and expression.”
