Tunisia – Hammam Lif: Gas kills three members of same family

An elderly man, his wife and their son passed away today, Monday, inside their home in the city of Hammam Lif, in the governorate of Ben Arous, from poisoning, which initial data indicate was caused by a domestic gas leak.

The regional director of civil protection in Ben Arous, Nejmeddine Belhaj Mohamed, told Agence Tunis Afrique Presse that the intervention and rescue teams of the civil protection of the region intervened as soon as they were notified of the accident. They discovered the husband, the wife and their son dead, and the three bodies were handed over to the security authorities to complete the legal procedures.

He added that two wounded (two girls from the same family) were transferred to receive the necessary first aid. The first was transferred to the Montfleury Emergency Medical Centre in the capital, and the second to the Yasminette Regional Hospital in Ben Arous.
