Tunisia – Hammam Lif: Man assaults his mother

Neighbors filmed a  man assailing his mother, and ordering her to clean utensils.

The video stirred the web and angered Internet users who called on the authorities to interfere.

The Public Prosecution authorized the detention of the suspect, pending an investigation, and the presentation of the victim to a medical examination at the Burns Hospital in Ben Arous. 

In addition, the Minister of Family, Women, Childhood and the Elderly appointed a team of specialized regional services to ensure maximum follow-up to the victim’s psychological and health condition, and to coordinate immediately with other intervening structures to conduct social research, provide her with the required care, and take immediate measures to secure her safety and supporting her for a dignified living in her family environment, whether during her family placement or care institutions.
