Tunisia-Hasouna Nasfi:Parliament is the poorest legislative institution in the whole world

The House of people representatives started on Sunday, November 29, the review of the state budget for the year 2021 and the examination of the draft budget for the parliament.

The parliament expenditure during the year 2021 was fixed, according to the report of the Finance, Planning and Development Committee, at 42,839 thousand dinars as opposed to 43,903 thousand dinars in  2020, a reduction of 1,064 thousand dinars.

It is in this context that Hasouna Nasfi, president of the reform bloc, scrutinised the operation processes and the shortage of financial independence of the parliament board. He recalled that the reform bloc has previously introduced a legislative initiative to ensure the financial independence of the parliament council.

Nasfi similarly criticized the absence of means at the disposal of parliamentary blocs, saying that the parliament is “the poorest legislative institution in the whole world given the means available to deputies”.
