Tunisia – Head of State calls for finalizing preparation of governors’ movement

President of the Republic, Kais Saied, welcomed today, Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Carthage Palace, Mr. Khaled Ennouri, Minister of the Interior, examined the general security situation in the country, remarking the efforts made by the security forces alongside our armed military forces to uphold national security, and calling for greater vigilance and preparation against all attempts aimed at worsening the situation in various public areas which are desperate attempts, and historical responsibility requires thwarting them following what the law requires.

During this meeting, the President of the Republic highlighted that elections are not a fight, but rather an appointment that will be renewed on specific dates following what is stipulated by the Constitution, indicating, in this context, that some constituencies hidden in the branches of lobbies, themselves related to external parties, are not leading an electoral campaign today, but rather a raging campaign against the Tunisian state and the sovereign Tunisian people.

The Head of State highly commended the awareness shown by the Tunisian people, which history will mark in golden letters. It is an awareness stronger than all the pages of social networks whose source is known and whose purposes and objectives are exposed.

The President of the Republic also underlined, on another level, the necessity to complete the preparation of the governors’ movement as soon as possible and to retain a first element before any other element in the selection process, which is loyalty to Tunisia alone, with the need to work to meet the demands of citizens, in addition to the duties of neutrality, reserve, discipline and awareness. At all times, Tunisia is a unified state, as stipulated in the Constitution.
