Health control will be augmented in ports and airports as well as at land borders in prevention against the spread of the Coronavirus in Tunisia, following the registration of several local and imported contaminations, stated Director-General of the National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases Nissaf Ben Alaya.
In a statement after the meeting of the Permanent Scientific Committee to Combat COVID-19 which resumed operations on Tuesday under chairmanship Caretaker Prime Minister Elyes Fakhakh, Ben Alaya asked for the necessity to respect health protocols, sanitation rules and physical distancing.
For his part, Health Director-General Taher Gargah pointed out according to a Prime Ministry press release, that the plan offered during the next period is based on the one hand, on regular alertness by taking all the essential health precautions and on coexistence with the virus, on the other, emphasising the need to identify imported cases and isolate them to prevent further spread of the virus.
Elyès Fakhakh pointed out at the start of the meeting, the obligation to consolidate Tunisia’s success in the fight against the pandemic by stemming the spread of the virus and reducing its health, social and economic repercussions.
