Tunisia-Health ministry reports cases of Typhoid fever and hepatitis A, issues warning

The Ministry of Health announced on Friday, May 22, 2020, that its specialized services have recorded several cases of hepatitis A and typhoid fever caused mainly by the consumption of water from an unknown source and irregularities in the treatment of wastewater.

The ministry moved with the help of all concerned parties to halt the sale of drinking water in an anarchic way. They further launched An operation to check the conformity of food products including vegetables and fruits. Measures have been taken to avoid any risk to the health of citizens.

The health ministry called on citizens to thoroughly clean and disinfect vegetables and cooking tools with bleach and to thoroughly cook food in addition to regular handwashing with soap and water before and after each meal. The ministry also stressed Maintaining of wastewater pipes to avoids contamination that endangers human health.
