Tunisia-I WATCH files criminal complaint against Kais Said and Farouk Bouaskar.

I WATCH filed a criminal complaint against President of the Republic Kais Said and the ISIE, represented by its President Farouk Bouaskar. The object of the complaint is the breach of the laws of the legal statute N ° 16 dated May 26, 2014, relating to the elections and administrative corruption.

The complaint is substantiated by the publication by the Presidency of the Republic on social networks of a memorandum dated July 5, 2022, which constitutes – according to I WATCH – a breach of Article 115 bis of Decree No. 34 of the year 2022. This is an overrun of the deadline fixed by the cited article. I WATCH criticizes the presidency of the republic for getting complicated in the referendum campaign. The organization questions the appeal of the presidency of the republic to vote for the “yes”, which forms explicit participation in the referendum campaign.

President Kais Said has not applied to partake in the campaign. This is a violation of ISIE decision No. 114 of the year 2022.
