Tunisia- Imed Ben Halima recalls: It was Ennahdha who placed Nabil Karoui in jail

Remarking on a post published by Ennahdha MP Noureddine Bhiri where he alleges the right of Nabil Karoui to a fair trial, attorney and activist Imed Ben Halima evoked via a video published on his official page that it is Ennahdha who had placed Nabil Karoui in jail in 2019.

Ennahdha had taken advantage of Youssef Chahed’s “credulity” by getting him to believe that Nabil Karoui was a threat to him during the presidential elections, he revealed.

The Islamist Movement had made so at the time because it had received news from an American polling company that Qalb Tounes could have more than 80 seats in parliament, and therefore overtake Ennahdha, according to Ben Halima.

At that time, we did not hear Bhiri discussion about the separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary, he added, evoking that Noureddine Bhiri has removed and humiliated numerous magistrates regardless of these principles.
