Tunisia-In flagrant aggression on freedom of the press: Security units seize Tunisie Numérique’s equipment and bar them from working in the vicinity of parliament

In a flagrant menace to the freedom of the press, security units seized the work equipment of Tunise Numérique journalists (2 smartphones) when they were covering the events in the vicinity of the Parliament in Bardo.

Although they submitted their professional journalist’s card, the security officials stopped them from continuing their work without any legal reason, which is a clear assault on the freedom of the press.

The work equipment of other reporters was likewise seized and they were also harassed, which implies receiving directions to prevent journalists from exercising their role and confiscating their right to obtain correct information far away from rumours and misinformation.

Tunisie Numérique’s Family hence expresses its displeasure with these outdated and dangerous practices that would threaten the only gain for Tunisians after the revolution, which is the freedom of the press and expression.
