Tunisia – Inauguration of first mosque in Yasmine-Hammamet

The Minister of Religious Affairs, Ibrahim Al-Chaibi, inaugurated the “Bilal Mosque” on Sunday, 7 Ramadan 1445 Hegira, corresponding to March 17, 2024. This event observes the opening of the first mosque in Yasmine-Hammamet, located within the Nabeul governorate, as reported in a press release by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

During the inauguration, Minister Al-Chaibi delivered a speech emphasising the significance of places of worship and the virtues of their architecture. He thanked all contributors to the mosque’s construction and highlighted the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ commitment to supporting such sacred sites. Additionally, he underlined the Ministry’s efforts to expedite the opening procedures for this mosque.

Al-Chaibi voiced pride in establishing the first mosque in the Yasmine-Hammamet area, a destination favoured by visitors and tourists. He announced plans to stock the mosque’s library with various books on various subjects, guaranteeing accessibility for all visitors. This initiative aims to restore the mosque’s role in promoting moderate thought and fostering enlightened minds, anchored in the principle of “read.”

The minister likewise toured the mosque, admiring its beauty, decorations, architectural elegance, and technical features. He noted the mosque’s unique characteristics, including its adherence to the region’s architectural style.
