Tunisia- ISIE prepares to amend conditions of candidacy for presidency of Republic

The Independent Higher Authority for Elections (ISIE) is preparing to amend the conditions for candidacy for the presidency of the Republic, by adding, in particular, the obligation to submit a copy of bulletin no. 3, according to the press release published by the Authority, this Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

In the said press release, the council held by the Authority made it possible to examine the draft amendment to the regulatory decision of the Independent Higher Authority for elections no. 2014-18 of August 4, 2014, linking to rules and procedures for candidacy for presidential elections.

Each candidate must have solely Tunisian nationality, be at least 40 years old on the day of submitting their candidacy and be free from the impediments provided for in Articles 161 new and 163 of the Electoral Law and in Article 30 of the Penal Code. Consequently, each candidate must provide a copy of their criminal record (B3).
